Annapurna Circuit is a 150-mile long trekking route that takes you through a variety of scenic landscape from the sub-tropical lower Marshyangdi river valley to the northern arid areas. The trail winds through rice terraces and bamboo forests crossing the suspension bridges and gradually gains higher altitude. You can enjoy nature’s beauty all around walking through Rhododendron forests especially in spring time over the foothills of Annapurna Dhaulagiri ranges. After leaving Pisang you can view the stunning snowy and glaciated Annapurna peaks. The highest point of the Annapurna Circuit trek is Thorong La (5415m). The religious sanctity of Muktinath, the caravan of mules and the peculiar customs of Jomsom leave each and every trekker spell bound. The cultural identity of the Hindu community in the lower hills and cultural identity of people of Tibetan origin living in Mustang and Manang valley will surely draw attention of students and researchers of culture and sociology.
This trek is an excellent introduction to walking in Nepal for those who are confident of their fitness and health.
